Aliva UK Gears Up for European ETICS Awards

Aliva UK Gears Up for European ETICS Awards

Aliva is gearing up for awards season this month with the EAE | European Association for External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) awards on May 22nd in Brussels.

Aliva is thrilled that its A1 EWI and A1 accredited clay brick slip solution on Hayloft Point in the heart of London is shortlisted for prestigious European ETICS recognition.

Aliva is celebrating this signature sustainable facade which has helped contribute to Unite Students’ Net Zero Carbon strategy.

Hayloft Point is a flagship 920 room student accommodation development on the site of a former 16th Century Shakespearean-era playhouse.

Fingers crossed for a win at the award ceremony this month in Brussels, which is set to recognise the contribution EWI and sustainable cladding solutions are making to the European Net Zero Carbon landscape.

As a Modern Method of Construction, brick slips are a supremely sustainable choice for energy conscious projects, giving up to eight brick slips for the same volume of clay as a traditional brick. Aliva’s EWI Mineral Wool and brick slip systems can be installed extremely quickly, making the shell watertight much faster than a traditional brickwork build.

Working in partnership with RGGroup and HCD Architects on Hayloft Point, Aliva provided around 9,000sqm of EWI and clay brick slips in cream, brown and red multi in 15mm and 25mm thicknesses. Large format Toscana stone rainscreen cladding completed the aesthetic for the L-shaped building with a mix of 24,16 and 8-storeys.

The design required the use of various thicknesses of Mineral Wool insulation (110mm, 130mm 190mm, 250mm), which was both mechanically and adhesively fixed to the substrate.

Hayloft Point is already award winning, Aliva was thrilled to be recognised by the UK EWI trade association the Insulated Render and Cladding Association, bringing home the New Build EWI and Brick Effect Finish trophy previously.

Managing Director James Ormerod will be attending the ceremony which will mark the outstanding contribution ETICS are making to energy efficiency in the built environment and towards the European Net Zero Carbon agenda.

The EWI and brick slip solution on Hayloft Point is an exemplar sustainability solution that Aliva UK are proud to have delivered for Unite Students, working in partnership with RG Group and Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson Ltd Architects.
